The short version

A donation is a voluntary gift, so in the ordinary course there is nothing to refund. But mistakes happen, and when one does we return the money. We would rather do that than keep a gift somebody did not mean to make.

When we will return a gift

• You gave twice by accident, or the same gift went through more than once.
• You typed the wrong amount — an extra zero is the usual one.
• You meant to give to a different organisation.
• Somebody used your account without your knowledge.
• You simply changed your mind and tell us so.

How to ask

Write to us through the contact page, or telephone the ashram, and give us the reference shown on your donation page — it looks like DON-2026-000001. If you have the reference from your own UPI app as well, that helps us find it faster.

We return the money to the same account it came from. We cannot send it anywhere else, because we have no way to know that a different account is yours.

How long it takes

We will reply as soon as we have read your message. The return itself goes at the speed of the banks, which is usually a few working days once we have sent it. We will not leave you guessing — we will tell you when it has gone.

A monthly or annual subscription

Nothing on this website charges you automatically, so there is no recurring payment here to cancel. If you have arranged a regular gift with us directly, tell us and we will stop it. No explanation is needed.

If a gift has already been acknowledged

It makes no difference to whether we return it. If we have issued you an acknowledgement and the gift is then refunded, that acknowledgement no longer stands, and you should not rely on it — for tax or for anything else.
