What we collect, and what we do with it
This is a short policy because we collect very little.
Who we are
Pronabananda Sevashram, an ashram at Narendrapur, Kolkata. Our postal address is in the footer of every page, and you can reach us through our contact page.
What we collect
When you write to us
The contact form records your name, your email address, your telephone number if you give one, what your enquiry is about, and your message. That is all it records.
When you make a donation
We record your name, your email address, your telephone number and postal address if you give them, the amount, which programme you chose, our own reference for the gift, and the payment reference your UPI app gives you. We also generate a private link so you can see the status of your own donation.
What we never see
No payment is taken on this website. When you give by UPI, that happens inside your own bank’s app. We never see and never store your card number, your UPI PIN, your bank password, or any other credential. What reaches us is the reference your app produces after you have paid.
Cookies
Two, and neither of them watches you. One remembers whether you chose English or Bengali, so the site is still in your language next time. The other is the session cookie the site needs to protect its forms from being submitted by somebody else.
What we do not do
There are no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers of any kind. We do not know who visits, how many, or from where. We do not sell, rent or share your details with anybody for marketing, because we do no marketing.
Why we hold it
To answer your enquiry. To find your gift on our bank statement and acknowledge it. To keep the accounts a charitable institution has to keep. Nothing else.
Who else sees it
Our own bank, in the ordinary course of receiving a gift. If we send you an email — an acknowledgement, or a reply to your enquiry — it goes through Google’s Gmail service, so it passes through their systems as any email does. Otherwise, nobody.
How long we keep it
Donation records are kept as long as our accounts require. Enquiries are kept while they are useful and no longer.
Asking us to change or remove something
Write to us and we will correct anything wrong, or remove what we are not obliged to keep. We would rather you asked than wondered.
If this policy changes
We will replace this page, and the change will apply from the day it appears here.
